Creating Short Videos
Short Videos are high-priority vertical video content designed for maximum engagement in your Media Page. This guide walks you through the complete process of creating and publishing Short Videos in the Streams platform.
Prerequisites
- You must have access to an Organization with at least one Media Page set up
- You need Member, Admin, or Owner permissions to create content
- Video file ready for upload (supported formats and size limits apply)
Getting Started

Navigate to your Media Page content creation area at:
https://app.streamscloud.com/content/media-pages/{media_page_id}/posts

Click Create Short Video to open the creation dialog
Step 1: Adding Your Video Content
Upload Your Video
- In the Media section, click "Choose video or image"
- Select your video file from your device
- Wait for the upload to complete
Add Supporting Text
- Fill in the Text field with your video description or caption
- This text will accompany your video when displayed
Preview Your Content
- Click the play icon in the preview area to review your video before publishing
- Ensure both video and text appear as expected
Step 2: Configure Publishing Options
Switch to the Options tab to configure how your Short Video will be published and distributed.
Publication Settings
Target Media Page
- Publish to: The system automatically selects the appropriate Media Page
- To exclude from publication: Select "None" if you don't want this content to appear on your Media Page
Posted By
- Select which organization member appears as the content creator
- This affects attribution and permissions
Content Status
Choose from the following status options:
- Ideas: Save as a concept for future development
- Draft: Save your work in progress (not visible to audience)
- Review: Submit for approval by another team member
- Scheduled: Set for future publication (requires setting expiration time)
- Published: Make immediately live (default when clicking "Publish")
Note: The green button text changes dynamically based on your selected status (e.g., "Save as Draft", "Submit for Review", "Publish").
Content Organization
Content Lists
- Purpose: Organize content for website display and categorization
- Usage: Primarily used to sort content into different categories for website presentation
- Search for existing Content Lists or create new ones as needed
Include in Streams
- Purpose: Add your Short Video to curated content collections
- Usage: Streams are their own content concept for contextual curation
- Search for relevant Streams to include your content

Advanced Options
Feed Display
- Show in Feed: Control whether this content appears in community feeds
- Default: Yes (recommended for maximum visibility)
Social Interactions
- Enable social interactions: Allow likes, comments, and shares
- Default: Yes (recommended for engagement)
Expiration Time
- Set when content should no longer be displayed
- Useful for time-sensitive promotions or events
- Leave blank for permanent content
Monetization and Promotion
Promotion
- Add Ad: Attach existing Media Page Promotion type advertisements
- Requirement: Ads must already exist in your system

Product Links
- Add Products: Link products from your organization's catalog
- Product Source: Products must exist in your Product Catalog
- Display: Linked products appear in the right sidebar of the post player
- Purpose: Enable direct commerce integration with your content
Step 3: Publishing Your Short Video
Final Review
- Preview your content one final time
- Verify all settings in the Options tab
- Confirm your chosen status and publication target
Publish Options
Immediate Publication
- Ensure status is set to "Published"
- Click the green "Publish" button
- Your Short Video goes live immediately
Save for Later
- Select appropriate status (Draft, Ideas, Review, or Scheduled)
- Click the corresponding button (e.g., "Save as Draft")
- Content is saved but not published
Review Workflow
- If saved with "Review" status, the content appears in the Overview workflow board
- Other team members can review and approve from there

Content Quality
- Ensure videos are optimized for vertical (9:16) viewing
- Keep text descriptions engaging and relevant
- Test video playback before publishing
Organization
- Use descriptive names for Content Lists and Streams
- Tag content appropriately for discoverability
- Consider your content's lifecycle when setting expiration dates
Engagement
- Enable social interactions for maximum community engagement
- Link relevant products to drive commerce
- Use promotion features strategically

- Upload fails: Check video format and file size requirements
